We have funded vital research into bone fragility, supporting children and young people affected by a range of conditions well into their adult lives.
Bone fragility is sometimes caused by a reduction in the quality or amount of bone. These disorders can be life-limiting and tend to worsen with age. Because many diseases that cause bone fragility share common features, this research has the potential to benefit people with a wide range of diagnoses.
The study will focus on a condition called osteogenesis imperfecta and will use stem cell science to test potential new drugs. These treatments could make a significant difference for children and young people living with bone disorders, offering lifelong benefits.
