Molly’s story

An Easter spent at Sheffield Children’s inspired Molly Burtoft and her family to give back, beginning a tradition of supporting Theo’s Egg Run that has lasted more than a decade.

In 2013, Molly underwent nine hours of brain surgery at Sheffield Children’s, spending Easter in hospital with her family.

During her stay, Molly received a special visit from charity patron and former World Superbike Champion James Toseland, who was making his annual Easter visit to the hospital to hand out treats to young patients.

It was a moment that meant a great deal to Molly and her family, and one that inspired them to give something back.

The following year, the Burtofts volunteered at Theo’s Egg Run for the first time. They’ve been part of the event ever since, helping to keep bikers safe, running stalls and collecting donations to support Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

Molly said: “The care we received there changed our lives, and ever since, supporting the hospital has meant everything to us.”

In 2026, as Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity celebrated its 50th anniversary, the family marked their 12th Theo’s Egg Run.

Now a business owner, Molly has found even more ways to support the event, with her businesses, Mollywood Beauty and Mollywood Boutique, sponsoring the official event t-shirts, helping to raise even more money for the charity.

The Burtofts’ dedication is a wonderful example of how a family’s experience at Sheffield Children’s can inspire years of giving back.
