Emergency Department
At Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, we make care even kinder and bad days brighter. Now, we need your help to create a calm, child-friendly Emergency Department that reduces fear and anxiety, and supports recovery.
We’re raising £6.3 million to transform the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s
When the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s opened in 1977, it was designed for 24,000 patients a year. Today, more than 62,000 children and young people come through its doors annually.
While our clinical teams deliver exceptional care, the current environment no longer reflects growing and complex demand.
That’s why we are raising £6.3 million to contribute to the £20 million redevelopment of Sheffield Children’s Emergency Department.
About the Emergency Department
Everyday babies, children and young people up to age 16 from across the region arrive at Sheffield Children’s Hospital Emergency Department (also known as Accident and Emergency), for the treatment of serious life-threatening injuries and illnesses.
It’s where families come on some of the hardest days of their lives.
Sheffield Children’s Hospital is the only children’s Major Trauma Centre (MTC) for South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire – providing care 24/7 with specialist equipment, facilities and teams of trauma experts to make sure seriously injured children and young people receive effective diagnosis and early treatment.
We need your support
We kicked off this exciting campaign with our Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail, which saw 150 lions and lionesses, and 150 cubs, out on the prowl across South Yorkshire – all to help raise valuable funds and awareness.
With your support, we can contribute to the creation of purpose-built clinical environments, improve patient flow and reduce wait times, enhance privacy and family experiences, and create spaces for high-quality care for patients with additional needs.
Together, we can turn ambition into action, expanding on a 150-year legacy built by and for the people of Sheffield, of South Yorkshire and beyond, creating healthier futures today, tomorrow and for the next 150 years.
