Be part of our anniversary celebrations and share the pride

As Sheffield Children’s celebrates 150 years of life-changing care, and our charity celebrates 50 years of standing proudly alongside them, we’re asking people across the city to share what makes them proud of Sheffield Children’s.
A young boy in a white shirt is playing a game with another boy, who is wearing a black t-shirt. A nurse in a set of green scrubs is standing cheering them on.

To mark this milestone year, we’re unleashing 150 lions and lionesses, and 150 lion cubs, across the region as part of South Yorkshire’s biggest ever free public art trail – Pride of Yorkshire – with the aim of raising £2.8 million to transform the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s.

Running alongside it, during the summer, will be an exhibition in Sheffield’s Winter Gardens, exploring the history of our charity as well as what makes our city proud of Sheffield Children’s.

That’s where you come in!

We’re asking supporters, patients, families and more to complete our special anniversary cards with messages, memories, drawings or reflections about what makes them proud of Sheffield Children’s.

The cards can be filled in by people of all ages and returned at a number of locations across the city or posted back to our city centre office.

A selection of the responses will help form part of the exhibition, celebrating the stories, creativity and community spirit that have helped to shape Sheffield Children’s over the past 150 years.

It could be a memory of being brave at an appointment, a time you challenged yourself in the name of fundraising, a story of volunteering to help at one of our events, or simply a drawing that captures what Sheffield Children’s means to you – every contribution will help tell the story of Sheffield Children’s and its impact across the region.

John Armstrong, CEO at Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “Over the last 150 years, Sheffield Children’s has meant so much to so many people across our city and beyond. Through the exhibition, we want to give people the opportunity to share their memories, messages and creativity as part of this very special anniversary year.

“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate not only Sheffield Children’s and charity, but also the community that has supported Sheffield Children’s throughout the decades. We can’t wait to see the responses people send in and to showcase them as part of our exhibition this summer.”

Cards can be collected at and returned via charity postboxes at participating locations across Sheffield or sent back by post to Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, 1st Floor Orchard Lane, Fountain Precinct, Balm Green, Sheffield, S1 2JA before 30 June 2026.
